Respondus Quiz Instructor Guide

Download and install Respondus Quiz

This software currently worksonlyon Windows computers, so make sure you are on a Windows platform before following these steps. The process also differs depending on if you are downloading the software for the first time or have downloaded it before and are updating your version or license.

Create an assessment in Respondus Quiz

1. OpenRespondus Quiz。Click theStart tabif it is not open already, and clickOpen Or Createfrom the left-hand navigation.
2. ClickCreateto create a new assessment.
3. In the pop-up, enter aname(e.g. "Reading Quiz", "History Exam"), add adescriptionfor your assessment, and clickOK。
4. Once the assessment opens, click theEdit tab如果尚未打开，请选择question type您希望从左侧导航添加的。
5. Each question type has its own question form that will appear on the right to fill out. There are some fields that are common across all question types:
   • Title of Question——的名称问题。如果你离开这5ld blank, Respondus Quiz will automatically use the first 20 characters of the "Question Wording" as the question title.
   • Question Wording-问题本身。
   • Feedback- feedback students receive after answering. If you want to provide feedback based on how students answered, clickCorrect/Incorrect Feedback。一般反馈不管答案,点击General Feedback。Once you are done typing your feedback in either form, clickOK。
   • 点值- how many points the question is worth.
6. Once you are done setting up a question, click添加到列表末尾to add the current question to the end of the question list, which will appear at the bottom of the screen.
   • Once you have multiple questions, you can alternatively clickInsert into Listto add the current question at a specific location within the question list.
7. Repeat Steps 4-6 as needed. Edit, delete, duplicate, or reorder questions by clicking the down arrow icon next to any question in the question list at the bottom of the screen.
8. When you are done adding and editing questions, click thesave iconon the top left to save any unsaved changes to the assessment.

Customize settings for a Respondus Quiz assessment

You can set options in Respondus Quiz for how your assessment will display on paper or to students in Canvas, including designating what are called question groups. Question groups enable randomization, allowing you to create a set of questions from which randomly selected questions will be drawn for each student's assessment.

1. OpenRespondus Quiz。Click theStart tabif it is not open already, and clickOpen Or Createfrom the left-hand navigation.
2. ClickOpento open an existing assessment. In the pop-up, select theassessment, and clickOpen。
3. Click the设置taband select设置in the left-hand navigation.
4. Add or adjust any assessment settings on the right. The settings are nearly identical to theCanvas quiz settings。
5. To enable randomization of questions—which can be applied to online or on-paper assessments—selectQuestion Groupsin the left-hand navigation:
   • Click the正文under "Question Groups" on the right to open an editor pop-up.
   • In the pop-up, selectAdd New Set, if it is not selected already.
   • 输入范围of questions that will form the question group.
   • If you want all questions in the randomized range to be presented to students during the assessment, chooseAll。If you want a subset of questions in the range to be presented, chooseSelect Number，并指定数of questions each student should see from the range.

   • Once you are done creating question groups, clickOK关闭弹出窗口。

Use a Respondus Quiz assessment online in your Canvas course

If you are using a Respondus Quiz assessment in your Canvas course for the first time, you will need to follow the steps to connect to Canvas first, then follow the steps for importing your assessment. If you have already set up the connection, you can choose the existing connection and go straight to importing your assessment.

1. OpenRespondus Quiz。Click theStart tabif it is not open already, and clickOpen Or Createfrom the left-hand navigation.
2. ClickOpento open an existing assessment. In the pop-up, select theassessment, and clickOpen。
3. Click thePreview + Publish tab, selectPublish在左侧导航栏中，单击Publish Wizard。
4. In the pop-up, selectPublish to single course。
5. 如果您以前使用过带画布的Respondus测验，请选择您以前设置的画布服务器。
6. If you have not previously used Respondus Quiz with Canvas, selectadd new server:
   • In the first pop-up, select "No, I want to enter the server settings manually", and click下一个。
   • In the "Canvas Server Settings" pop-up, fill in the following:
     • Type "https://canvas.ubc.ca/" into the first address field, and click提取。

12. You should see a list of all your Canvas courses. Select the课程you want to import the assessment to and, if relevant, theassessmentyou want it to replace, then click下一个again.

Save a Respondus Quiz assessment as a printable file

You can distribute any Respondus Quiz assessment in file or paper form.

1. OpenRespondus Quiz。Click theStart tabif it is not open already, and clickOpen Or Createfrom the left-hand navigation.
2. ClickOpento open an existing assessment. In the pop-up, select theassessment, and clickOpen。
3. Click thePreview + Publish taband selectPrint Optionsin the left-hand navigation.

7. If you see a "Questions to be included" section, specify the range of questions to be included in the printed document. To include all the questions, leave the fields blank.
8. When you are done, clickSave to Fileto save the assessment as a rich text (.rtf), standard text (.txt), or Microsoft Word (.doc) file that you can use for printing.
